Alright, so I’ve been eyeing this OMEGA X-33 Marstimer for a while now. You know, the one they made with the European Space Agency? Yeah, that one. It’s a pretty wild piece, and I finally pulled the trigger.
First off, let me tell you, I’m not an astronaut. I’m probably never going to Mars. So, why did I get this watch? Honestly, it just looked cool! I’m a sucker for unusual stuff, and this Marstimer is definitely that.
I started digging around online, reading some forum posts. Some folks were talking about using it as an alternative to a G-shock or some other quartz watch. And some others are talking about the battery change. I don’t know, it just doesn’t sound right. This is a MARS watch! Then I realized, I just wanted it for my collection, I mean, who cares right?
Getting my hands on it was a bit of a process. I mean, it’s not your everyday watch you find at the mall. Finally found a dealer that had one and bam! It was mine.
Unboxing this thing was an experience. OMEGA doesn’t mess around with presentation. It felt like I was opening some top-secret space gear. And there it was, the Marstimer, looking even more impressive in person than in the pictures.
Now, this watch has a ton of features. Solar compass, Mars time, Earth time, alarms, timers… you name it. Will I ever use most of these? Probably not. But hey, it’s cool to know they’re there. I did spend a good hour just playing around with all the buttons and figuring out how everything works. It’s like a mini-computer on your wrist.
I did read somewhere that you gotta be careful with this watch on Mars. Apparently, you can’t take it to places that are too hot. Makes sense, I guess. I mean, it’s made for Mars, but not the burning hot parts, I suppose.
