Let me tell you about the time I got my hands on a CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, the one with the clear back so you can see all the guts inside. It’s supposed to be like the ones astronauts wore, you know, the “Classic Style.”
First, I started looking online. Browsed a bunch of places, but many didn’t feel quite right. Eventually, I found one that seemed okay. I did a bunch of digging, reading reviews, that kind of stuff.
When I finally decided to buy, I placed the order. Filled out all the forms, you know, address, payment. I chose the fastest shipping because I was excited. It cost a little more, but whatever. Then, I waited. And waited.
After a few days, I got an email saying it shipped. Checked the tracking number like a hawk, watching it go from place to place. It was a little delayed at first, but I thought, whatever, it happens.
Finally, the day came. The delivery guy showed up, and I signed for the package. I grabbed the box and practically ran inside.
Opening the Box
- Ripped open the outer box.
- Found another, nicer box inside.
- Opened that one, and there it was.
The watch was inside, all wrapped up in plastic. I pulled it out carefully. It looked pretty good at first glance. I took off the plastic and strapped it on my wrist. The band felt a bit stiff, but maybe it just needed to be broken in.
I started playing with the buttons and the crown. Wound it up, set the time. The little hands started moving. I pressed the chronograph buttons, and those hands started spinning, too.
I flipped it over and looked at the back. You could see all the gears and stuff moving around. It was kind of cool, I guess, but not as impressive as I thought it would be. The finishing was kind of rough in some areas.
After wearing it for a few days, I noticed a few things. It was losing time, like, a noticeable amount. And the chronograph buttons felt kind of mushy. Not crisp and satisfying like a real good watch. Also, the band was still stiff as heck.
Honestly, I was a little bummed out. I mean, it was a copy, so I wasn’t expecting perfection, but still. It wasn’t super cheap, either. I guess that’s what I get for trying to get a “deal.” Maybe I should have just saved up for the real thing.
