Okay, so, let me tell you about this little project I got myself into. I decided to try and remake that fancy Yves Saint Laurent YSL COLLEGE BAG. You know, the one everyone’s always going on about? I heard people call it the “original order” version, and I thought, why not give it a shot? I’m no pro, but I like a good challenge.
First thing I did was to stare at a bunch of pictures of the real bag online. I mean, really stare. I looked at the shape, how it’s kind of square but not really. The real ones, they have this perfect square thing going on, but the ones I saw, the remakes, they were a bit more, you know, rectangular. I made a note of that.
Then there’s the logo. Oh boy, the YSL logo. On the real deal, it’s like each letter is perfectly made, all the same size, smooth. So, I tried to copy that look. I drew the logo out a bunch of times, practiced getting the letters just right, connected like they are on the original.
- Started by looking at pictures. Lots of pictures.
- Focused on the shape and the logo.
- Practiced drawing the logo a lot.
Next up was this little lock thingy. The real ones have this tiny lock with “Saint Laurent” written on it, and it’s super neat. I found a small lock and tried to engrave the name on it. It wasn’t easy, let me tell you. I messed up a few times, but I kept at it. The fake ones, the writing is usually off, or the lock is too big. I wanted mine to look legit.
Getting the Details Right
The leather, oh, the leather. On the original, it’s all quilted and stuff, with these tight, even sections. I got some leather and tried to make that quilted pattern. It’s harder than it looks! I watched some videos, read some articles, and after a lot of trial and error, I started to get the hang of it.
And then there’s the magnetic closure. On the real bag, it’s smooth, shiny, and pretty big. I found a similar one and made sure it was the right size and look. It had to be perfect. I attached it to the bag, and it looked pretty good, if I do say so myself.
- Worked on the lock, the leather, and the magnetic closure.
- Used videos and articles to learn how to quilt the leather.
- Made sure the magnetic closure was just right.
So, after all that, I finally finished my remake of the YSL COLLEGE BAG. It wasn’t perfect, but I was pretty proud of it. It looked good, felt good, and it was way cheaper than buying the real thing. Plus, I learned a lot along the way. If you’re thinking of doing something like this, I say go for it. Just be patient, and don’t be afraid to mess up a few times. It’s all part of the process.
This YSL COLLEGE BAG, it’s a classic. It’s fancy, it’s tough, it’s stylish. And my remake, well, it’s not too shabby either. It was a fun project, and I’m happy I did it.
If you want a fancy bag but don’t want to spend a ton of money, maybe try remaking one. Or just be smart about buying a remake. Either way, you can still look stylish without breaking the bank. That’s my two cents, anyway.
