Okay, so, I got this idea to try and make a copy of the Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. Sounds fancy, right? But it’s a really nice-looking bag. I’ve been wanting to try my hand at making bags for a while, and I figured this would be a good challenge. And, I thought, why not share my whole journey with you guys?

First, I gathered all my materials. I already had a bunch of leather scraps from other projects, so I picked out some that I thought would work. It’s this really nice, textured leather called Saffiano. I also needed some strong thread, a good needle, and some hardware, like buckles and zippers. I spent a good few hours just making sure I had everything I might need. This was a learning experience, and I didn’t want to have to stop in the middle because I was missing something.

Next, I studied the real Prada bag. I looked at tons of pictures online, zoomed in, and really tried to understand how it was put together. I even watched some videos of people reviewing it, just to get a better sense of the size and how it looked in real life. It was tough, I’m not gonna lie. There are a lot of little details that go into a bag like this.

Then came the scary part – cutting the leather. I carefully measured everything out, using a ruler and a pencil to mark where I needed to cut. I double-checked, and triple-checked, my measurements, because once you cut the leather, there’s no going back. My hands were a little shaky, I must admit. Then I started to cut and assemble it slowly.

  • Sewing the pieces together was the next big hurdle.
  • I used a simple saddle stitch, which is pretty strong and looks nice.
  • It took a while, and my fingers were definitely sore by the end, but I managed to get it all sewn up.

The final step was adding the hardware. This was actually kind of fun. It’s like putting the finishing touches on a painting. I carefully attached the buckles and the zipper, making sure everything was lined up and secure. A few hours into it, and I was done!

And there you have it! My homemade version of the Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. It’s not perfect, and there’s definitely some room for improvement, but I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It actually looks pretty darn close to the real thing! I’m not sure if it’s worth the price tag of a real Prada, but this was a super fun project, and I learned a lot. Now I can show it off to my friends. I think they will like it, hope so.
