Remake Yves Saint Laurent YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG Classic Style How to Get the Look for Less

Okay, so, I’ve been eyeing this Yves Saint Laurent LE CARRé SATCHEL BAG for a while now. It’s classic, it’s chic, and it just screams “I have my life together” – even if I don’t, haha. But, you know, the price tag is a little…ouch. So I thought, why not try to make my own? Yeah, I’m probably crazy, but let’s do this!

First things first, I gathered all my materials. I managed to find some really nice leather that was on sale – score! I mean, it looks pretty good, and feels kinda soft. I also needed some sturdy hardware, like buckles and clasps. I scoured some online stores and local shops and found what I needed. Not exactly the same as the real YSL stuff, but hey, it’s close enough.

  • Leather – got a good deal on a nice, supple piece.
  • Lining fabric – went with a smooth, silky material.
  • Hardware – buckles, clasps, and rings. Found some decent ones online.
  • Thread – heavy-duty stuff, gotta make sure this thing holds together.
  • Tools – leather needles, cutting mat, rotary cutter, etc.

Next, I had to figure out the pattern. This was probably the hardest part. I studied pictures of the bag online, like, really studied them. I sketched out the different pieces and made some rough measurements. It took a few tries, and a lot of paper, but I finally got a pattern that I thought would work.

Then came the cutting. I carefully traced my pattern onto the leather and started cutting. This part was kinda scary, ngl. One wrong cut and you could ruin the whole piece! But I took my time and double-checked everything before cutting. And it paid off! I had all my leather pieces cut out and ready to go.

Now for the sewing. This was definitely a learning experience. I broke a few needles, and my fingers were pretty sore, but I pushed through. I mean, I had to. Sewing leather is tough, but I managed it. I carefully stitched all the pieces together, following the lines I had marked. It was a slow process, but it was so satisfying to see the bag starting to take shape.

Finally, I added the hardware. This was the finishing touch. I attached the buckles and clasps, and voila! My very own, handmade, YSL-inspired bag. It has a YSL logo, you know. Although, it is a little bit different from the real one. And I saw someone mentioned that “YSL and Saint Laurent both have their own logo variations”, so it makes sense to me.

It’s not perfect, obviously. There are a few wonky stitches here and there, and it’s definitely not the same quality as the real thing. But you know what? I made it! And I’m pretty darn proud of myself. Plus, I saved a ton of money. I mean, I found out that “Bestelle Beauty Produkte von Yves Saint Laurent und sichere dir 15% Rabatt. Sale: Spare 15% mit Gutscheincode ‘BEAUTY15’ ab einem Bestellwert von 49.” from an online shop, but, I still think it’s expensive. And it was a really fun project. So, if you’re feeling crafty and you’re on a budget, I say go for it! You might surprise yourself with what you can create.
