Hey everyone, gather ’round, let me tell you about this project I just wrapped up. So, I got this wild idea to try and make my own version of one of those fancy Yves Saint Laurent bags. Yeah, the YSL JUNE BOX BAG, that’s the one. It’s got this cool, boxy look that I really dig.

First things first, I spent a good chunk of time just staring at pictures of the real deal online. I needed to get a feel for the size, the shape, all those little details, you know? I zoomed in on every photo I could find, trying to figure out how it was all put together.

Next up, I hit the fabric store. I wandered around for ages, touching all the different materials, trying to find something that felt right. It’s gotta have that luxurious feel, but also be sturdy enough to hold its shape. Eventually, I settled on some high quality synthetic leather that I think will do the trick.

  • Cutting out the pattern pieces was a real test of patience. I’m no expert with a pair of scissors, and let’s just say there were a few, uh, “mishaps” along the way. But I took it slow, double-checked all my measurements, and finally got it done.
  • Then came the sewing. Oh boy, the sewing. I dusted off my old sewing machine. Thank goodness that thing still works. I spent hours hunched over, feeding the fabric through, trying to keep my lines straight. My fingers are a little sore, I won’t lie. I had to rip out seams and start over more times than I care to admit.

Putting the whole thing together was like solving a puzzle. I flipped the bag inside out, right side in, all sorts of ways, trying to figure out how to attach the different panels. I even watched a few videos online of people making other bags, just to get some ideas. Slowly but surely, it started to look like a bag. It took quite some time to attach the hardware, had a little difficulty with the clasp but finally managed it.

And then, finally, after days of work, it was done! My very own homemade YSL JUNE BOX BAG. It’s not perfect, of course. There are a few wonky stitches here and there, and it’s definitely not an exact replica. But you know what? I’m pretty darn proud of it. I made this! With my own two hands. And I learned a ton along the way. This bag, it’s somethin’ special.

It is not easy to make one, and I know that they say Saint Laurent is not going to stop making those bags with YSL logo. I am not sure about the meaning. Maybe it means good quality and valuable. They used only the finest fabrics and materials such as silk, genuine leather, and metal. It is worth it. This experience taught me a lot about the amount of work that goes into making these fancy bags, but I still enjoyed the process. If you want a bag that’s gonna last, you can have a try.
